The ML is made in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It is an American car!
Many if not most of the German branded cars have governors in them. Not strictly a rev limiter because in the lower gears it will rev to redline (then the rev limiter kicks in). You would have to reflash the computer or install a different chip to raise or eliminate the governor. I don't know if this is possible for an ML. I've only had mine up to 110, and it felt like it had more left in it!
