Central Locking, 87 300D Can’t find connectivity on the “hot” Red White wire

I can’t establish any type of connectivity on the “hot” Red White wire on my 1987 300D Central Locking System.
Continuity checks between the Red White wire on the driver door actuator and the electric vacuum pump show no continuity.
I also have no continuity between the driver door actuator Red White wire to fuse block position C. Curiously enough, the CLS came to life briefly and worked as recently as two months ago.
When I found the X1 “matrix” wiring connector under the driver side front kick pad, where everything meets, I thought that I had found the source of all my problems, but the connector checks out okay.
Also I can’t find the origin of the red-white wire that connects to the electric vacuum pump. It disappears under the Front Passenger Seat.
I am really frustrated; winter is coming soon and I’m tempted to just put all the panels back on and give up. I am doubly frustrated because the Interior looks like it came from the factory yesterday and I don’t want to mar anything.
Can anyone offer any advice?
