Cleared up sloppy steering...in 5 mninutes
I had the typical 107 sloppy steering condition with lots of play in the wheel. I figured I'd start with the easiest to replace and least expensive component and work my way up. I got my hands on the steering shock and replaced the 20 year old unit. Took about 5 minutes. When I removed the old shock I could immediately see that it was basically a tube inside of a tube with virtually no resistance. That explains the slop and a clancking sound I'd hear every once in a while.
Best $25 I've spent so far. Thought I'd pass it on...next are the $30 steering column couplers.
