Sunroof has to go back further to completely remove, but you can drop the headliner at this point. There are four clips about an inch back from the front egde. Use a putty knife to pry these out, and the headliner will come loose. Slide it back, and you will have access to the lift angles and rails.
To remove the headliner properly, you need to get the roof back far enough to take the chrome rails off (phillips screws, leave the slotted ones at the front alone, they are the height adjustment). Loose the screws holding the front guides on the roof panel and push inwards, then take out the rails and the headliner will come out the opening upwards.
The roof panel is held to the slides by two bolts on each side and the front guides. Run panel back forward (completely closed is best, but if one of the angles is broken, it may not go that far). If it doesn't tilt up, it's easier to work on, is identical to the tilting model except the slides don't hinge.
With the roof panel off, remove the three screws on each side that hold the slides to the translation bridge. Cable is held on by two screws on the bridge.
Lift angles "hook" under the sides of the opening, rotate them upwards and outwards to remove.
If it is just sticky, some MB sunroof paste will usually cure it (don't use anything else to lubricate it). If the angles or slides are broken, get new ones.
