if you like tinkering with stuff- I was able to replace practically every component under the dash that's got to do with the A/C - heating department for about a grand. Is your a/c system still r-12 or 134A?? If 134a, then it'll be a grand . If r-12, it might be a bit more ... I have a transcript of the procedure it's self...I know that kinda anal for one to do...but it's available if you want it for reference or just to read up on why it took me 26 hrs to finish-- good luck
BTW, the heater core is $100, evap (copper) $220, 6 vacuum actuators $75 each. receiver drier$ 35, expansion valve $40?. The rest are misc. expenditures.
