The traditional Porsche 911 or "Carrera" has only been water cooled since around 1999-2000 era (The first I believe is the model code "998", I could be wrong, and of course the Boxster). The last of the air cooled was I believe the 993. I think the air cooled Porsche is gone for good, they just can't get it to meet the clean air standards anymore.
Of course Porsche has dabled in water cooling for a long time, just not in the rear-engined configuration (924, 944, and 928 all come immediately to mind).
