Total monthly obligations: $921 or $11,052 per annum. Before paying off the house, our mortgage payment was $912.00, so we spent $21,996 per year on must-be-paid-bills.
Additional items:
Retirement savings: $1800 pre month / $21,600 per year
Car replacement account: $1000 per month / $12,000 per year
Total: $11,052 + $21,600 + $12,000 = $44,652.
On top of that is gasoline, food, clothes, etc. Including upgrading the house, other savings (education), and all spending, we churn through about $65,000 per annum in total. That typically includes some sort of reasonably large item like something kinda big for the house, or a motorcycle. One year we did the kitchen, another we put in slate/hardwood.
We do not debt finance anything anymore. No cash = no buy it. We are completely debt free and intend to remain that way.
