Just to let you know, I did learn what the problem was with my reception.

I called Scott out at La Jolla Audio and he told me that it's likely the Pioneer unit's receiver that has gone bad in my car. It's one of the earlier models and several of his customers have had similar problems with signal dropout.

With his advice, I purchased a new Terk unit which I will try to install tomorrow. I also bought two Rainbow speakers for the dash since one of the Bose speakers is going bad. I'll update when I get the installation done!
