You can get the b1 piston cover out in the car. Remove the rear trans crossmember and wedge a block of wood in between the trans tunnel and the trans to wedge the trans over to the driver's side. I would inspect the bowden(tv) cable o-ring and dipstick tube o-ring as well, these are right in that same area and are common leaks also.
