The servicing dealer is most likely trying not to risk making the present owner (their customer) angry. Ask another MB dealer (or Mercedes independent shop)who does not know the owner; you are likely to get a more accurate assesment.

Good luck on finding a shop. ?Do you know the owner? Would he allow you to drive car back to your home area where you could have everything checked there by someone you trust. Rent the car a week ?

PS. What is wrong with the center console door, ? It doesn't appear to fit the console. Or is that just the way the picts. look?
