The problem resolving your survey to remote sensing data and imagery is why registered land surveyors and civil engineers are working to take control of GIS from nerdy geographers and put it under the control of folks who need accurate cadastral maps. The upside of that is when you get a survey from the countty or whomever, it will have a PE or RLS stamp and bonded guarantee. The downside is that it will cost tax assessors, municipal gov, state gov, and fed gov buckets of money--meaning you suckers (I mean taxpayers, pardon) are going to pay some huge costs to maintain all those civil engineers and surveyors.

If you feel strongly about it either way, you should contact your state rep and Congressmen about it and let them know of your concerns. This legislation has strong backing in most every state.
