Assuming you have a six cylinder motor in your 124, there is a coolant sensor in the top of the cylinder head that switches the electric fans on at specific temperatures. It will be the sensor with three or four pins. The other sensors feed the dash gauge and the fuel injection. Just climbing a little over 90C is no big deal. IIRC, the fans switches on at 105, but I'm not certain of the number.
