I've been reading about the different pump rebuild kits and replacements. What I haven't been able to figure out from past posts is whether or not there was a fix or a revised pump offered for the 617 that didn't have those problematic exposed bearings (the ones that infrequently end up in folks' oil pans.) Something I read earlier seemed to indicate that using a newer pump from a 603 on a 617 might cause problems due maybe to a longer stroke on the pump (eg, the pumps were only lasting about 35k miles...)
