paint color

Under the hood of the car is a metal tag with numbers. These are your paint codes. If your car is light blue it is properly called Silver Blue Poly - paint code #930

The bumper color is #175.

There are these letters - either a G or an H.

G is for Glauserit paint - which is the only paint and clear coat that serious Mercedes body shops use. Glauserit is a german paint that is used on many European cars. They have the absolute clearest clear coat of any paint company available.

H is for Herbert Standox which was bought out by Du Pont. Du Pont seems to be an excellent paint in the highest grade available.

I bought a spray can of TEC Martin Senour Flexible parts primer to prime my bumper. You have to use a flexible primer on plastic parts like bumpers or it will crack to pieces. There are flex additives to the paint as well.

The original color of the bumpers on the blue car was a grey color. Sand lightly with a fine grit paper 1000 grit or so and then prime. Paint and clear coat.

Take bumper off car(easy), Take the bumper apart and remove the chrome. Then you can do this job without overspray on your chrome. I took mine apart and took the part to be painted to the body shop. $170 to prime and paint. Then I will reinstall it on the car.
