It's an admirable thing to see people raise their children well. But is it really the most selfless of acts in an overpopulated world? There are many who argue most of mankind's problems arise from just too many people. I go along with this. This is at least part of the reason why we are seeing wars for natural resources, to pick a topical subject. World population has doubled since 1960 (3,000 million to > 6,000 million). It can't keep doubling. I hope to see a time when having more children than the replacement rate (that's two and a bit) earns some general disapproval. Clearly it raises all sorts of interesting issues about personal freedom, but nature (how many people the earth can support) doesn't much care about that. Something always regulates populations - it can be voluntary, or it can be famine, disease and war. What's your take on this?
