This afternoon, I went down to my local AutoQuest and they had on their shelf SEM vinyl paints available, but were out of a cleaner recommended for them, so I ordered a can of that, plus an additional can of the color I selected, they only had one can of that left.

Got home and proceeded to remove the dye and discovered that it did have bond in some areas, about 50%, yet the remaining half of which some came off with just plain water, and the rest with an oxy-moron orange cleaner guess who felt like the real moron? Also I noticed it came off the stainless snaps, real easy, the snaps fastening the leather covering patch to a panel for the hard top dome light plug-in.

I tried a small area with the SEM and it immediately started to fish-eye, small fish eyes, but non the less a problem so with some acetone, I removed it. Over the past, I have discovered that acetone seems to cause fish eyes all by it's self. Laquor thinner, no, I haven't seen this happen with that, but acetone, yes! Hydocarbons present in acetone can do some strange things! Never touch even a drop of acetone to plexi-glass, try it and see what happens! then bend the plexi, with goggles on! Anyway, I'll wait till tomorrow for the proper cleaning solvent to arrive and report my progress. I hope this thread/post can save others from my misfortunes, as I believe that in the end, it will have been all worth it! BB
