I feel your pain

Willie,
My "87 300TD also has a problem with lighting, so bad I drive with the brights on and no one notices, and with the fog lamps on so I can see the lines.

I read that the E-class cars pre-93 had less then satisfactory headlamps with plastic light housing which limits my max wattage to 60. I also read that it could be upgraded to a metal European unit which with modifications could go as high as 160 watt high/beam. But too expensive for my pocketbook.
Anyone have any ideas to get bighter without that option?
