The fluid in the mounts is stiffer when cold, may even chrystalize. Should smooth out when it warms up some.
12F isn't cold, -38 F is! When I lived in Canada, my trusty (rusty) Dodge Aires fired up first try, every time, for three years running, even when on the week or so in Feb when the pre-dawn temps were -35 or colder. Diesels up there (a colleague had a W123 240D) only started if garaged at that temp.
