If the half shafts on a 240D are the same as on a 300D, rebuilt ones range from $69 to $120. However new ones can be as much as $350. Not sure about the price of used ones at the yards, but this is a valid source as well. The deal on the used ones is that the right shaft and left shaft are the same for these cars. The trick is to run the used one on the other side on your car from where it was used on the JY car. Labor on the replacement will vary almost as much as the cost of the half shafts, but can be zero if done yourself. It is very do-able, particularly with the help of the many postings in the archives.
Not sure about the tank draining and flush, but with the right socket it can also be a DYI job.
