Starting Problems continue

1989 300E

The car had been sitting for about 6-8 weeks and when I attempted to start it, the symptoms were as follows:

-Engine would turn over but would not engage.
- After 30-40 cranks, the tach would register a reading of 200-300RPM
- 30-40 additional cranks and the tach would read 500+ and would start. It would run rough for several minutes until warm whereby the tack would still read 600-700. I was still running rough.
- Once the car is actually driven, it runs very smoothly and with power.
- The car has very low mileage on it and I took it into a mechanic today who the proceeded to diagnose saying that it was the only way to eliminate certain items. I assured him that the electrical was fine but he replaced the rotor and the distributor cap and checked that the cold sensor was working.

After he presented me with a shocking bill, I advised him hours later that I was still having the same problem.

He said his next step would be to check the EGR than the fuel system to see if it was working (pressurized).

I have read up on the EHA adjustments and the OVP but don't know where they are located. Any assistance would be appreciated from a very novice DIY.
