The "problem" with PC's isn't that hard to figure. Microsoft, predominantly software, has to deal with and accomodate hardware vendors and neither of them like sharing proprietary information about their products. The marketplace that gives us cheap PC's and enhancement cards also gives us incompatible drivers. The need to get the operating system onto the market in a timely fashion to keep the stock price pumping, is the best environment for mistakes, errors and security holes.
