I bought a used 5' rosewood finish model about 10 years ago for $6K...previous owners traded it in for a Yamaha Disclavier (the digital player) since neither of them played piano anyway.
Wasn't particularly concerned about brand...a Shaefer & Son. Action is harder than most, which is fine because both me and my daughter tend to "pound" harder than most pianists.
Still plays and sparkles like new. They don't wear out as rapidly as cars...
