I don't fool with any mail, but I can relate to the tape measure example, although I expand that to include wrenches, sockets, reading glasses, pencils, pens and when I used to smoke, cigarette lighters. Heck, I'll even lose a beer on occassion

When golfing, sometimes I have to think back as to how many clubs I used on a particular hole in order to derive my score!
Some comedian once said that when he lost something he would realize that he was in panic when he started looking for it in places that he hadn't even been! I've done that!
