Yeah, I deleted it, wanna talk about it?
It was even assumed in the thread that it was probably not appropriate for this forum. I noted it was there, but decided to leave it for a short while. I am starting to think about this a little: What if I would allow a couple political or religion threads at a time with the agreement that you can post on them for a day or two, then I delete it? Does that work for anyone, or a poor compromise? If flaming/shouting breaks out, it gets deleted right away, if it's kept civil it may remain a little longer. If I note it's always the same person flaming/shouting, it might have an impact on your longevity as a member. And I realize the whiners are just as big of a problem as the instigators, I do try to look at this objectively, everyone is just going to have to get along, so this time I may have to consider taking into account that certain people are more sensitve to being shouted at and suggest they don't participate in OD if they are too thin-skinned. But I don't want to have alot of political/religious threads, just a FEW at a time, with the understanding that for no apparent reason (probably just my gut reaction to the general direction the thread is going, in otherwords when it starts to get "ugly") the thread will be deleted, and also remember I am taking NOTES on if it's always the same person who gets uncivil. And also let's keep it to THREE total threads to see how it goes, if it goes over that I will delete whichever one I feel like to keep it to that.
If it's not working out, I will "throw a flag" on it so you all know.
