I have a friend who was a Seabee in WWII. Made several landings in the Pacific island hopping. Neat old fart in his 90's now. Started work as a teenager roughnecking in the oilfields of east TX. Still sharp and physically able to help his sons work on cars and stuff. Not much stamina and nearly deaf, even with a big amplifier.

Anyway, the old bird stole his M1 carbine and brought it home after the war.
