Hi Bjoern:

The following specs apply to 1985 and earlier 300TD 5 cylinder diesels.

There are two types of socket bolts and they do differ.

1. Hexagon Socket bolt.

1st step 70nm or 52 foot pounds
2nd step 90nm or 66 foot pounds
Wait ten minutes for the bolts to settle
3rd step 100nm or 74 foot pounds.


2. Twelve point socket bolt.

1st step 40nm or 30 foot pounds
2nd step 70nm or 52 foot pounds
Wait ten munutes to settle
3rd step rotate each bolt 90 degrees tighter
4th step rotate each bolt an additional 90 degrees tighter.

That's the information I have.
