EPC compact - decypher the footnotes? Quick problemo!

Hi - I have the EPC compact for my W123...

I'm looking to rebuild the front end, and some parts come up with footnotes.

How do I make sure I specify the right part for my car, as there are several options listed!

Can anyone explain what it means by: "..from Ident number..." and then goes on to list:

"003 xxxxxx"
"007 yyyyyy"
"086 zzzzzz"

and so on...

Am I assuming the 3 digits on the LHS are a code for my car, and the RHS is a ref to a part of the chassis number?

Or do I have this TOTALLY the wrong way around??

cheers!
