You might be talking about "bench-bleeding" the master cylinder prior to installing the MC in the vehicel.

If this is the case there should be a bleed bolt on the master cylinder itself > usually something like a 9-10mm bolt..located past the point of the cylinder > permits you to evacuate the air out of hte master cylinder
