Well,
On your chassis , the egr valve is at the rear end of the exhaust manifold , on the passenger side. The pipe you refer to goes from this EGR valve , across the back side of the engine , over to the drivers side intake port .
This is the pipe that usually plugs up, but the problem can also be a sticking EGR valve.
There was a design change on this part to remedy sticking valve...
