I have found hitting all around the edge of the rotor also helps. Someone once told me to expect to take about 100 blows of a hammer. Often they come off around 40-50 depending on the corrosion between the two and how long they have been on.

Also, carefully coat the mating surfaces with a VERY sparing, thin application of anti-seize. Next time they will almost fall off.
