Thanks Gilly. I'll look again. I put a dental mirror up there and couldn't see anything that looked like a catch, but the connector looks like it's a side pull to remove.

I have a new level sensor on its way. Maybe the new part will give me a hint, at least if the catch is on the sensor itself as opposed to the connector.

With the delay, the oil has certainly had plenty of time to drain well out of the block.
