I am curious about why Kamil thought the sign might be illegal. I often hear of school administrators and other authority figures misunderstanding the First Amendment, so I wonder whether there were any policies at Rutgers that give students the impression that this type of speech is not permitted. A similar issue comes up in the context of prayer in school and I think there are some school administrators who do not know that students are, and always have been, permitted to pray in school.
