It's hard for me to give you a time because I did it as part of a head gasket replacemnt. I would estimate 2 hr for a well expierianced MB technichian and 8 hr for a first time DIYer.
I recomend 2 valve cover gaskets, all 3 sliders. and 6 replacment pins. All that stuff is available right here at Fast Lane.
I will add that I stripped out one of the pins out by being a little impatient. Trying to put too many washers on and getting too little thread engadement. But I had the head out on the bench and it was easy to drill it out and rethread it to 1/4 " 20 TPI and use a threaded rod with a slide hammer. This is a job that could be done in the car as well.
