With the health care rant over, I'd like to say that the new crop of General Motors products is looking up. Hell, for an honest sedan devoid of sporting pretensions, you can't really beat the Chevrolet Malibu V6. Why bother paying extra for an Altima or Camry or Accord? The build materials/quality are little different between them. People today though seem willing to spend more for the name of quality ..... mainly just perceived since the build materials gap has been closed. A halo around a name sure can pay dividends.

Lets call it "INCENTIVE" to work. You hose it up, you get thrown out on your ear with nothing. That should make you work harder to earn your keep instead of having a social net to fall back on. A helping hand is fine. A handout is not. You screw up and lose your benifits, it gives you a problem. Then you have to deal with it instead of riding on the backs of others who are trying to better themselves. While we are on that subject, I seem to be a little short this month. Wanna help me out with my car payment and house payment? Remember, what if YOU became a little short someday and asked for help? So give generously and give often.
What is wrong with them standing on their own feet? What happened to "From Each His Best, To each his worth?" Not worth much? Not get much either.
IF socialism is so good, why are you in a quasi socialist state? why not move to a socialist state like say the birthplace of socialism?
Material gaps may or may not have closed. However, workmanship is also an issue. Like one union worker was telling trying to tell me that they are better trained. BFD. I want to see it applied to the product you are trying to assemble.
