Dieselgeek u da man!! I read your posts on this 2.47 differential swap. Last week I bought a 2.47 pumpkin and this morning I installed it. After installation, I drove approximately 200 miles and they were the most enjoyable 200 miles that I have driven this 300SD. Quiet and smooth are the only words to describe the experience. Ample power was available at all times. If I get better fuel mileage that would be great, if I don't get better mileage I don't even care. The comfort factor is astounding. One other point, which I believe you hit upon was the size differential of the differentials.
For a few moments I was questioning whether that V-8 pumpkin was actually going to work, but it went right in with absolutely on problems. Thanks for the great thread.
