In the beginning, I was referring to the fact that this is not news.
Now I have to pose the question of:
What can this possibly accomplish? One could say that she is raising awareness to this country's "housing crisis". But anyone who wasn't already aware that people live in little crap holes (for whatever reason) is obviously too stupid to help the problem.
So, if it's not raising awareness, it could be exploitation. Playing on the emotions of her "army of housewives", as someone eloquently put it, who will watch her heartbreaking story of the poor and abused and buy Downey fabric softener because Downey paid the network for commercial time during the Oprah show. The network in turn can charge more for commercial time, and as a result pay more to Oprah to manipulate people's emotions.
It's all crap.
If she wants to help she should donate her "team of security guards" to an inner-city high school for a year, see if they can help remove graffiti and turn in drug dealers. And for a nice change, not whorishly seek out publicity for her good deed.
