I'm not sure about your model, but on my '82 the tach amp is a black cylindrical object mounted on the left front inner fender. It is a little over 1" in diameter and about 2-1/2" long. It unscrews from its connector, but should have a short plastic strap retainer. Hope this helps you locate yours....
