If not, how fast were you able to drive with the accelerator pedal depressed and was there any knocking, missing out, etc. if there was movement with pedal deprssed?

yeah, It could have been off already, and there was no forewarning. There was no missing/knocking/anything prior to or anything.
I didn't notice the economy gauge during the stall, was more concerned with getting safely off the road. And, I don't recall hearing the fuel pump noise when attempting to start it. That was one thing I thought might be a possibility actually... But I don't remember for sure hearing it or not. I'm used to listening for good/bad diesel noises!
