Lightbulb '83 300DT transmission performance.

Trans in this car was "overhauled" by shop of questionable reputation in foreign car repairs I learned after I bought the car.The "B-2" piston broke after the waranty (12.000 M.) expired and I was able to replace that my-self thanks to Stu Ritter/Eisner ? techn. bulletin. The trans still drops from 3 to 4 too soon in city driving but I have adjusted the vacuum adj. cable to the best possible position.Going downhill however the transm. has no braking effect in "D" and "S" unless I switch at approx. 10 miles into "L".Also when slowing down (releasing gas pedal) engine goes immediately to idle. This is unlike my other car, a '82 300 SD with same trans and I wonder if I can correct any possible part replacement myself again if I knew what to look for.Any input on this? Thanks, Hans R.
