I've decided to gen up on aircon in general and specifically the system in my 1995 E300 Diesel. I have the Haynes Techbook which is great for me as a newbie to A/C but I quickly have learnt there are different types of systems and combinations of components across manufacturers.

Can anyone tell me what basic system type is in my W124, I think it could be an Expansion Valve System with a cycling compressor (electro mag clutch?) and a combined accumulator /drier compressor cut out switch unit - am i right? if not could you tell me what basic components I have. This will allow me to optimise what I am reading around the system in my car.
