Mine is 1994. It does the first gear start and have 217HP. On dry pavement, if I floor the pedal, it will give me an impressive startup, but it still won't squeal, unless I hit the painted part of the pavement or something.

Have you ever driven a 2nd gear start W124? Any idea on how it compares to your 1st gear start?
