Unhappy Crank Position Sensor - ML320 Replacement procedure

I have a problem where the car will start fine but will stall if left to idle for more that about 5 minutes. Once it has stalled it won't start again for anything from 10 to 30 minutes. The garage working on the problem has replaced the O2 sensors and the fuel pump relay and has now told me that the ECU (Engine Control Unit) is faulty. I get the feeling that they are just replacing parts and hoping for the best.

From what I have read here it seams to me that the problem could well be the Crank Position Sensor.

I have read that there is a thread that details how to replace this sensor but I can't seam to find it. If anyone knows how this is done, can they please let me know the process/procedure? Do I need specialized tools? Is it easy to get to/find?
