Replacing nitro cyl on a W124

My wife's TD has a real hard ride in the back end. The rear struts are not leaking. I bought new accumulators thinking they were in the same place as my '83 TD, on the underside. I have discovered that they have to accessed through the wagon portion of the car. How on earth do I do this? I removed the 4 screws that appear to hold the center section panel in place, but it won't come up. I started to remove the panel that goes over the wheel well, but that didn't seem to help. Anyone out there do this job before, any tips would be greatly appreciated.
