The fitting that connects the hose from the expansion tank to the top of the radiator decided to fall apart on me, 100 miles away from civilization. Luckily, I had distilled water and duct tape, so I fixed it up and made it to Santa Cruz. Took Pacific Coast Highway back to South Orange County (450 miles or so?), only having to add water a few times. Now that I'm back, I ordered the part on fastlane, so I got a few days to wait.

But I need to know if it's safe to drive the vehicle without the end of the fitting in place. You see, when I removed it a few minutes ago for inspection, it fell apart in my hands. Stupid brittle plastic. Here is a picture:



As far as I can tell, it serves as a pressure release line. Just want to make sure nothing really awful will happen without it.
