Dash light redux 280SE-rheostat wuz/is the culprit
Many thanks to tangofox007 and sokoloff who correctly diagnosed the dead dash lights as a rheostat problem. Persistant jiggling of rheostat did restore the panel lights for a few seconds. Switch is so worn that lights will not stay on. Drat the luck

Can I replace or bridge around this rheostat?
