One of my very first reveivers was a Marantz and that's quite some time back. As a subscriber of Sound & Vision and the previous Stereo Review for over 25 years, and as a stereo buff, I do know a bit more sound than the average person. Marantz is not a popular brand has limited distribution. That means you will not get much discount from its dealers

Of course this has nothing to do with the quality of Marantz. It's just that you will likely to pay a significant premium for Marantz compared to other more popular brands. There are many good receivers out there that offer a better value than Marantz

Unless you have already done so, I would suggest that you do some comparison shoppingby looking specifically at the RMS power ratings, versatile digital input and out, warranty, the sound quality, etc. And if you listen to FM frequently, look for the low signal capture ratio, multipath interference rejection, stereo separation, etc.
