I have done 3 of them and if you have the socket for the nut and a loooong bar to tighten it with(there is a crush ring for the preload) its not a bad job. I have also done two of the on a 124 and they suck, tourch required.
If you have to buy the tool to take them apart why not just change them and be done with it. I cant believe i said that because i am not one to spend money if i can find a way around it.
