GM's Dexcool coolant has a change interval of 5 years or 150,000 miles. My GM vehicle has 120,000 miles and the coolant has been changed 3 times!!

Once at 44k, intake gasket bad ($700)

Once at 90k, intake gasket bad ($780)

Again at 115k head gasket bad ($1400)

GM offered $1000 towards the purchase of a new GM vehicle when the intaket gasket went out a second time. I declined. Who wants another vehicle with poor fit, finish, quality, NVH & reliability. Large number of customers are reporting various premature problems related to Dexcool coolant.

I hope the new MB coolant does not run into the similar problems.

I no longer follow manufacturer's recommendations, eg GM recommends changing transmission fluid every 100k, I change it every 50k.
