Shawnisco, welcome to my land of fukced up fuel problems. I own a 300E as well, and if you read any of my previous threads, you'd be surprised that my car is still in the driveway. I am having pretty much the same problem you are having, as far as the engine idling for a few seconds and then dying out.

As far as the Fuel Pump switching goes, Im not an expert or anything, but I suggest switching them back to their normal positions. I hate that fact that Mercedes Benz cars are so fukcin complicated, but I guess thats what makes them better cars. I would just swicth the two fuel pumps back, sonce there may be sensors or other gadgets that may have an effect on the pumps. I would suggest, like J.HIDALGO said, do an extensive search on that issue. Check back later...
