Size of nut on rear of trans. output shaft?

Can someone help me determine the size of the big nut holding the 3-pronged flange on the rear of a 717.411 5-speed transmission? I need to buy a deep-well socket to fit this nut. It looks like it's about 1-1/8" 12-point, but I cant determine the exact size, because I can't get a wrench on the nut right now.

I realize that it's actually a metric size, but I have had good luck with SAE wrenches on metric nuts when they get into the 1" and above size range. Plus, SAE deep well sockets are much easier to find locally.

Thanks for any guidance.
